June 2026 - Pete Quinn and Professor James Sloam join Student Compass as advisers

Student Compass is now being supported by two advisers with deep experience in student services, student engagement and young people’s participation.
Pete Quinn, founder of Pete Quinn Consulting, brings extensive experience across higher education, student support, disability, inclusion and student experience. Pete is helping shape the Student Compass framework so that it reflects real student needs, clear support pathways and safe escalation to the right people.

Professor James Sloam, Professor of Politics at Royal Holloway, University of London, has a long-standing research focus on young people, engagement, citizenship and participation. His insight is helping ensure Student Compass remains grounded in how young people connect with institutions, support systems and opportunities.

Student Compass is being developed around a simple principle: technology should help students find the right human support earlier, not replace that support.

Their involvement strengthens the project’s aim to help universities connect students with the people, services and information that can help them thrive.
